Staying at Marble Island…

Marble Island has a guest cottage available for rent, which sleeps four guests at any one time (with an additional two trundle beds available at extra cost). Getting there

Return flights to and from Marble Island are chartered from Rockhampton, Queensland, and can be booked directly through Peace Aviation (PH: 07 4927 4355), situated at Rockhampton Airport. Marble Island has a dedicated grass airstrip which Peace are extremely well trained in landing on.

The scenic flight from Rockhampton to Marble Island takes approximately 45 minutes via a twin engine Britten Norman Islander (ideal for four to six passengers and luggage), straight to Marble Island’s dedicated airstrip.

Alternatively, guests are welcome to book through other air charter operators and provide details to their Duke Islands booking contact.

Activities

Over 30 kilometres of 4WD and walking tracks provide access to imposing headland vistas, breath-taking sunsets and over 20 secluded bays and beaches. The island’s rich environment and surrounding seas remain largely untouched, offering guests the opportunity to do as much or as little as they want. Some activities available to our guests are as below:

  • Year round swimming & snorkelling in clear, protected waters*

  • Spear fishing*

  • Shucking oysters fresh off the rock

  • Drinks at ‘Top Club Pub’

  • Beach & rock fishing*

  • Nature watching — birds, turtles, deer, dugongs & whales (in season)

  • Bushwalking & beachcombing

  • Exploring rock pools and their various inhabitants at low tide

  • Photography

  • Collecting your own ‘farm fresh eggs’ from a collection of chickens, ducks and guinea fowl

  • Feeding the cows (with supervision from managers)

  • Beach bonfires (with permission from managers)

And most of all, relaxing on your personal beach of choice for the day, de-stressing and unwinding completely.

If guests are interested in boat fishing, all are welcome to travel over in their own boat, with Marble Island boasting a mooring for guest use. However, the weather may impact your arrival and refunds are not able to be made should you not be able to arrive via boat due to unexpected wind or sea conditions.

*Please note, guests are required to bring their own equipment for these activities.

What to bring

Upon booking, you will be provided with a comprehensive packing list and suggested shopping list that guests have found useful in the past.

Due to its secluded nature, Marble Island is fully self-catered, meaning guests are required to bring all their own food, beverages, and other supplies. Generally, orders for most provisions can be made through suppliers on the mainland and you can order delivery directly to Peace Aviation (or alternative preferred charter facility) through most suppliers.

When the family visits, they usually order online through Woolworths Allenstown in Rockhampton for delivery out to Peace Aviation, or bring some of their favourite artisanal goodies from Brisbane when travelling to Rockhampton via car.
